Monte Walker

In 2020, Monte will begin his 27th season in sports broadcasting including radio and television play-by-play. Walker became the television voice of the KTEN-TV's Texas High School Football Game of the Week in 2009. His trademark touchdown call of “It’s Touchdown Time In Texas” is a tribute to the late Mark Holtz who would always state before every Texas Rangers game that it was “Baseball Time In Texas.” He started with the Sherman Bearcat broadcast team as a sideline announcer in 1994 with KWSM. KLAK-FM obtained the rights for Sherman Bearcat football in 1995 and he stayed on that broadcast crew until 1999. He changed sides of the Battle of the Axe when he joined Lynn Burkhead to broadcast Denison Yellow Jacket football on KMKT-FM. He worked the 2003 playoffs for the Texas State Network and broadcasted the 5A playoffs on Fox in ‘04. Walker also served as the play-by-play voice for the 2005 Coca-Cola Texas High School All-Star Game. He became the play-by-play voice of McKinney ISD Football on KLAK-FM for five seasons from 2004-2008. After leaving the broadcast business in order to attend his hometown Howe Bulldogs games with his family, Walker only did fill-in games on radio from 2010-2013. In 2014, he purchased the Howe Enterprise and began as the play-by-play voice of his hometown Howe Bulldogs on howeenterprise.com.
